Read for the CureABOUT READ FOR THE CURE

Book club members Emily and Christine initiated the idea of Read for the Cure in 2006. After having either battled cancer or been confronted by the disease in their immediate surrounding, and witnessing other book club members struggling with it, they wished to harness their collective energy and passion for reading to raise funds for cancer research.

Through a valued relationship with founding sponsor and Principal Partner Penguin Random House of Canada Ltd., Read for the Cure members have been volunteering their time and efforts ever since to host an exceptional series of literary evenings with best-selling authors.

Proceeds raised from these events support the Cancer Research Society’s Environment-Cancer Fund™, dedicated to compiling a large body of scientific evidence to demonstrate how environmental factors including living and working conditions affect one’s risk of developing cancer and future methods for prevention and detection.

Celebrating 10 years of Read for the Cure with over 1 million dollars raised for the Environment-Cancer Fund at the Cancer Research Society

To mark the tenth anniversary of the literary evenings and the $1M milestone in funds raised for the Cancer Research Society, members of Read for the Cure were recognized by Board Members Dorothy Quann and Joanna Wilson this past February for their dedication to the fight against cancer.

Our sincerest thanks to the Read for the Cure committee and to all the generous corporate partners for their exceptional support, as well as to all participating authors and attendees.
